Dog Humor - Dog Standards
What the standard says vs. what the standard really means:
-
Needs lots of socialization - Frankly, it'd be easier to own and handle a tiger
- Highly intelligent-
Un trainable but will steal your car
-
Loves his family-
Dangerous with everyone by you, your wife and maybe your kids
-
Wary of strangers; can be aloof with strangers-
Eats everyone but his own nuclear family
-
Dominant toward other dogs-
Believes other members of his species are prey animals
-
Friendly-
Unrelentingly obnoxious
-
Alert-
Paces
-
Responsive-
Occasionally deigns to listen to your pleas for obedience
-
Courageous-
Will always attempt to attack other dogs, no matter how small
-
Instinctively protective-
Biter
-
Highly territorial-
Eats paperboys, mailmen, meter readers, and other pedestrians who pass 'his' territory.
-
calm and observant-
Dominant
-
Bright inquiring expression-
Schemer
-
Hardy and active-
Needs to hike the Apalachian Trail twice a day
-
Tenacious-
Bites and hangs on
-
Sensitive-
Sulks
-
Rollicking personality
Nuts
-
Fearless-
Stupid
And then there are the AKC breeds that have no personality/temperament descriptions included. Among these are the Greyhound and the Yorkshire Terrier. The Yorkie people are clearly covering up their breed's personality disorder, but I think the Greyhound people are just being honest - greyhounds have no discernable personality.
I am, of course, just joking.
