Puppy Behavior:

Here we will discuss the mindset of a puppy, his physical limits, as well as list activities after which most puppies have to go outside and do their business, in short we will discuss a puppy behavior.

A puppy has to understand what is good and what is bad. When you just get him he doesn’t know and it is your obligation to teach him the rules of the home. When a puppy eliminates inside the house before rushing in and punishing him/her you should think is it really his fault or have you messed up. Maybe the puppy was holding it as long as he could to please you, but his physical limitations couldn’t hold it in. An average puppy can only hold his/hers bladder for no longer then an hour, two at most.

Here is a list of activities and events after which it is a good idea to take the puppy outside.

  1. Waking up after a nap
  2. After playing with toys
  3. After chewing a bone
  4. After eating and drinking (an 30min to 2 hours depending on pup)
  5. After doing obedience training
  6. Right when he wakes up from night sleep
  7. On average a puppy should be taken out every 1-2 hours regardless of his activities (just don’t wake them up if they are sleeping ;))

As the puppy gets old, its bladder will get bigger and eventually by the time it reaches around 8 months of age he/she should be able to spend the whole day home alone without messing up, just don’t forget to take the pup outside before you leave for work. In the next section we will discuss on how to correctly show the pup that it is bad to go inside the house and is very good to go outside.
